Vaiśampāyana said: Thereafter, when night had passed, Pāṇḍava Bhīmasena took the food with him and left for the place where the maneater lived.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: इसके बाद, जब रात बीत गई, तो पांडव भीमसेन भोजन अपने साथ ले गए और उस स्थान पर चले गए जहां नरभक्षी रहता था।
Reaching the forest where the rākṣasa lived, the immensely strong Pāṇḍava began to eat the food himself and called out to the rākṣasa by name.
उस जंगल में जहाँ राक्षस रहता था, पहुँचकर अत्यंत बलशाली पांडव ने स्वयं भोजन करना शुरू कर दिया और राक्षस का नाम लेकर उसे पुकारा।
Then, on hearing Bhīmasena's words, the rākṣasa was greatly enraged and came to where Bhīmā was.
तब भीमसेन की बातें सुनकर राक्षस बहुत क्रोधित हुआ और जहाँ भीम थे वहाँ आ गया।
His body was huge and his speed was swift, as if he was breaking up the ground. His forehead was furrowed into three lines and he bit his lips.
उसका शरीर विशाल था और उसकी गति तेज़ थी, मानो वह ज़मीन को तोड़ रहा हो। उसके माथे पर तीन रेखाएँ उभरी हुई थीं और उसने अपने होंठ चबाये थे।
On seeing Bhīmasena eating the food, the rākṣasa dilated his eyes and angrily said,
भीमसेन को भोजन करते देख राक्षस ने अपनी आँखें फैला लीं और गुस्से से बोला,
"Who are you, stupid one, who dares to eat these offerings meant for me, that too in front of my own eyes? Do you wish to go to the land of the dead?"
"तुम कौन हो मूर्ख, जो मेरे लिए लाए गए इन प्रसाद को खाने की हिम्मत कर रहे हो, वह भी मेरी आंखों के सामने? क्या तुम मृतकों की भूमि पर जाना चाहते हो?"
O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! On hearing this, Bhīmasena began to laugh. Ignoring the rākṣasa, he turned his head away and continued to eat.
हे भरत वंश के वंशज! यह सुनकर भीमसेन हँसने लगे। राक्षस की उपेक्षा करते हुए, उसने अपना सिर घुमा लिया और खाना खाता रहा।

'Uttering a terrible roar and raising both arms high, the maneater rushed at Bhīmasena, with the intention of killing him.
'भयानक गर्जना करते हुए और दोनों भुजाएँ ऊपर उठाते हुए, नरभक्षी भीमसेन को मारने के इरादे से उन पर झपटा।
Even then, Pāṇḍava Vṛkodara, the killer of enemy warriors, ignored the rākṣasa. Casting only a glance, he went on eating.
फिर भी, शत्रु योद्धाओं के हत्यारे पांडव वृकोदर ने राक्षस की उपेक्षा की। बस एक नजर डालकर वह खाना खाता रहा।
Greatly enraged, the rākṣasa struck a mighty blow with both his hands on the back of Kuntī's son.
अत्यंत क्रोधित होकर राक्षस ने कुंती के पुत्र की पीठ पर अपने दोनों हाथों से एक जोरदार प्रहार किया।
Though Bhīmā was powerfully struck by those arms, he did not even look up, and continued to eat.
यद्यपि भीम पर उन भुजाओं का जोरदार प्रहार हुआ, फिर भी उसने ऊपर नहीं देखा और खाना खाता रहा।
Thereupon, the rākṣasa became even more enraged. He uprooted a tree and powerfully dashed at Bhīmā, so as to strike him again.
इस पर राक्षस और भी क्रोधित हो गया। उसने एक पेड़ उखाड़ दिया और भीम पर दोबारा हमला करने के लिए उस पर जोरदार प्रहार किया।
Bhīmā, bull among men and immensely strong, slowly finished eating all the food. He washed himself and then cheerfully stood up to fight.
भीम, मनुष्यों में बैल और अत्यधिक बलवान, धीरे-धीरे सारा भोजन खा गया। उसने खुद को धोया और फिर खुशी-खुशी लड़ने के लिए खड़ा हो गया।
O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! The valorous Bhīmā laughingly caught the tree that had been angrily hurled in his left hand.
हे भरत वंश के वंशज! वीर भीम ने क्रोधपूर्वक फेंके गये वृक्ष को हंसते हुए अपने बायें हाथ से पकड़ लिया।
Then that powerful one hurled many other trees at Bhīmasena and the Pāṇḍava Bhīmā also hurled many at him.
तब उस शक्तिशाली ने भीमसेन पर बहुत से वृक्ष फेंके और पाण्डव भीम ने भी उन पर बहुत से वृक्ष फेंके।

O great king! The terrible and great fight between Baka and the Pāṇḍava with trees went on, denuding the forest of its trees.
हे महान राजा! बक और पांडवों के बीच पेड़ों के साथ भयानक और महान युद्ध चलता रहा, जिससे जंगल के पेड़ नष्ट हो गए।
Announcing his name, Baka dashed at the Pāṇḍava and grasped the immensely powerful Bhīmasena in both his arms.
अपने नाम की घोषणा करते हुए, बका पांडव पर टूट पड़ा और उसने अत्यंत शक्तिशाली भीमसेन को अपनी दोनों भुजाओं में पकड़ लिया।
Bhīmasena also grasped the rākṣasa in his great arms and began to violently drag the swift and strong one.
भीमसेन ने भी राक्षस को अपनी विशाल भुजाओं में पकड़ लिया और उस तीव्र और बलशाली राक्षस को हिंसक रूप से खींचने लगे।
Dragged by Bhīmā and also dragging the Pāṇḍava, the maneater was gradually overcome by great fatigue.
भीम द्वारा घसीटे जाने और पांडवों को भी घसीटने के कारण नरभक्षी धीरे-धीरे अत्यधिक थकान से उबर गया।
The earth shook because of their violent movements. Giant trees that stood there were shattered into pieces.
उनकी उग्र गतिविधियों से धरती हिल गयी। वहाँ खड़े विशाल वृक्ष टुकड़े-टुकड़े हो गये।
O bull among the Bhārata lineage! On seeing the rākṣasa fading away, Vṛkodara pressed him down on the ground and began to strike him with his arms.
हे भरत वंश में बैल! राक्षस को मरते देख वृकोदर ने उसे जमीन पर दबा दिया और अपनी भुजाओं से उस पर प्रहार करना शुरू कर दिया।
Powerfully pushing the middle of his back down with one knee, the Pāṇḍava grabbed his neck with his right hand
एक घुटने से उसकी पीठ के मध्य भाग को शक्तिशाली ढंग से नीचे धकेलते हुए, पांडव ने अपने दाहिने हाथ से उसकी गर्दन पकड़ ली।
and his loincloth with the left, and then ripped the rākṣasa into two with great force.
और बाईं ओर से उसकी लंगोटी, और फिर बड़े बल से राक्षस को दो भागों में फाड़ दिया।
O ruler of the earth! Uttering a terrible roar, the fearsome rākṣasa was torn into two by Bhīmā and vomited blood.
हे पृथ्वी के शासक! भयंकर गर्जना करते हुए उस भयानक राक्षस को भीम ने दो टुकड़ों में फाड़ दिया और खून की उल्टी की।
